Two Unique Film Courses at QUAD

This Autumn, we have two unique film courses at QUAD; BFI Film Academy and Talk Cinema.

The BFI Film Academy is a unique course open to young people aged between 16 and 19 years of age who are passionate about film and possibly interested in a career in the film industry.

The course offers a chance to find out more about film industry, develop practical knowledge and skills and gain invaluable experience working alongside industry professionals.

The course takes place on Saturdays and no experience, qualification requirements or prior film knowledge are necessary. It is open to young people or students in further education courses or sixth form (although University undergraduates are not eligible).

Students will additionally work towards a Silver Arts Award as part of the accreditation. Following successful completion of the course there is also access to exclusive opportunities, advice and professional development as a BFI Film Academy Alumni.

The BFI Academy course takes place in QUAD from Saturday 23rd October until 12th February 2022 . Applications will close on Saturday 9th October 2021 at 5pm. Click here for more information.

The course fee is £25 per person and support is offered for educational or disability needs. For those unable to pay the full course fee, there are bursaries which also cover travel and childcare. To find out more please contact FilmAcademy@derbyquad.co.uk

Talk Cinema is QUAD’s most popular and longest running course perfect for film fans – from beginner to experts. The premise is simple, watch a film one week and talk about it the following week. Featuring films from QUAD’s current programme and discussion led by Film Lecturer Alan Seaman, Talk Cinema is a ten-week course taking place on Tuesdays from 5th October to 7th December.

Films will be chosen by the film lecturer, alternating with discussion sessions taking place from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. The course will begin on Tuesday 5th October with a 30-minute introduction session at 6:30pm ahead of the first film No Time To Die at 7:00pm.

Course fees are £60, £40 for Concessions and £30 for those aged under 25. The fees include admission to five films as part of the course. Click here for more information.
