QUAD Open Call For East/West Midlands Based Artists

Open Call Exhibition for East/West Midlands Based Artists
QUAD Extra Gallery Spaces 2019

QUAD is excited to announce an opportunity for artists to send us submissions to exhibit in a group show, in QUAD’s Extra Gallery Spaces. The main theme of Made/Unmade is how we as a species affect the world around us, and how that world can in turn affect us.

Open Call Deadline: Sunday 19th May, Midnight GMT
Exhibition: Saturday 29th June – Sunday 29th September 2019
Exhibition Launch: Friday 28th June 2019, 6pm

This curated open call for exhibition invites artists to propose new or existing works that explore how our everyday actions affect the planet, and equally, how extraordinary events can affect us/the everyday.

With an ever-growing awareness of our individual impact on the world and a longing to be connected – even though ways to reduce toxic harm are a digital click away - knowing how to act or what to prioritise can be unclear.

Urgency towards global issues interferes with everyday circumstances. At times, habitual acts can provoke reflection on ways to interconnect with the world, be it in the warmth of a hand, unexpected conversations, or the mundane job of trying to find the right Tupperware lid.

This call out is for East/West Midlands based artists to exhibit in QUAD Extra Gallery Spaces and free to apply. We are looking for submissions of 2D works, temporary works that can be directly applied to the gallery walls, and screen-based works. The ideas can be fact or faction – or something in-between; a daydream or splash into the future.

The Extra Gallery Spaces are comprised of exhibition walls within stairwells, corridors and mezzanine areas. QUAD can offer payment for exhibiting the work and some production, install, equipment and travel costs.

To apply please send in a SINGLE PDF:
-    Your contact details
-    6 x Images of your work including captions
-    Up to 250 words description about the work, please include links as relevant
