Special screenings at QUAD for Derby Remembers

08 June 2017

Between June 9th and July 23rd the Derby Remembers season takes place across Derby. This a season of cultural events and activities to commemorate the First World War, allowing people of all ages to explore their own and the city’s connection to the conflict.

QUAD will be hosting two special events as part of this season:

Asunder with Director Q+A

Wednesday June 21st. 7:00pm.

Narrated by Kate Adie, Asunder tells the story of what happened to a quintessential British town during the First World War, with virtually all of its men abroad fighting and its women and children left behind.

The North East was in the front line, thanks to its shipyards and munitions factories. Using archive and contemporary footage and audio, this documentary reveals the stories of people from Tyneside and Wearside and uncovers just what life was like on the home front - with bombs falling on Britain for the first time, conscientious objectors sentenced to death, and women working as doctors and tram conductors.

We are delighted to welcome the film's director, Esther Johnson, for an exclusive Q&A. Tickets are £5 and can be booked at this page.

All Quiet On The Western Front (PG)

Sunday June 25th. 3:20pm

Considered a most realistic and harrowing account of warfare in World War I, All Quiet On The Western Front relates the soldiers' physical and mental stress during the war, and won Academy Awards for both Outstanding Production and Best Director.

Based on the novel by Erich Maria Remarque, a German veteran of World War I, and starring Louis Wolheim, Lew Ayres, John Wray and Arnold Lucy.

Tickets are £5 and can be booked at this page.
