Three events for Artists and Industry Professionals at QUAD in July

QUAD in Derby will be holding three events for Artists, creatives and people working in the sector in July. Writer, editor, international curator and cultural researcher Alasdair Foster will be in QUAD talking about ‘Creating Shared Culture’ With his finger on the pulse of movements, developments and policies in the arts, Alasdair will touch upon the history and role of artists in creating ‘shared culture’. He will also look at the barriers to the development and the politics of having a shared culture, especially in the current economic climate. Alasdair Foster: Creating Shared Culture Talk takes place in QUAD on Thursday 9th July at 2:00pm. The talk is free and open to anyone, tickets are available from http://bit.ly/alasdairfoster

The East Midlands Participatory Arts Forum (EMPAF) and QUAD present a Digital Participation Expedition Launch exploring the future of digital participation within arts and culture. Aimed at Artists, cultural organisations and facilitators, the free event is designed to inspire conversation and debate. At the event, Participatory Arts organisations will be sharing examples of good practice, training, the work of inspirational digital artists and debating the role of new media in society and how this impacts upon participatory work. There will also be demonstrations by digitally focused organisations and group discussions on the role of digital in participatory practice. The event will explore: how organisations can keep themselves online and in-line with the digital age, and what ‘digital' enables us to do in our programmes that they previously could not, and whether it can improve quality, access and enable people to work together? Digital Participation Expedition Launch takes place in QUAD on Wednesday 18th July from 12:30pm to 5:00pm. The event is free, but tickets need to be obtained in advance, for tickets and more information, please see this webpage

Get Funded! is a special event aimed at those applying for funding bids from Arts Council England, Heritage Lottery Fund and other community funders. Artists and Curators will share their insights into getting a successful funding and Arts Council England will also be on hand to share information on their latest funding bids. The event will cover: how to cost up a project, participation and engagement strategies, evaluation and documentation. There is also a chance to book a one to one’s to enable further discussion about a project or concept Get Funded! takes place in QUAD on Thursday 19th July from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, tickets are £10 per person.
