Bone Tomahawk and Brawl On Cell Block 99 director S. Craig Zahler returns to QUAD screens with this antagonistic tale of two corrupt policemen who are suspended for their use of force that becomes a news item. Both are desperate for cash and they step further over the line into the criminal underworld. Unflinching is the word that is often used to describe Zahler's work and this is not different. Channelling his 70s influences of the films of Don Siegel, Zahler has paralleled the fall from grace of his characters with his casting of Mel Gibson in one of the lead roles. Both still attempting to rebuild their reputations.
"Gibson and Vince Vaughn are a pair of out-of-control cops careering towards oblivion in S. Craig Zahler's long but often brilliant crime flick. **** 4 stars" - Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
