Oscars Season 2019

The 2019 Oscars will be held on the evening of 24 February and many of the nominated films are screening at QUAD in January and February.

Already a winner of 7 BAFTA 2019 Awards, the darkly comedic costume drama The Favourite (15) is nominated for 10 Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress (Olivia Colman) and Best Supporting Actress (nominations for both Emma Stone & Rachel Weisz). Returning to QUAD 16 - 28 February.

The foot-stomping biopic Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody (12A), having recently bagged 7 BAFTA awards, is up for 5 Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Actor In A Leading Role (Rami Malek), Film Editing, Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing. Returning to QUAD 19 - 28 February.

Satirical biopic Vice (15) by writer/director Adam McKay is nominated for 8 awards, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actor (Christian Bale), Best Supporting Actor (Sam Rockwell) & Best Supporting Actress (Amy Adams). Screening 25 January - 7 February.

Green Book (12A), based on the true story of musician Don Shirley and his relationship with his driver Tony Vallelonga, is nominated for 5 Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Actor (Viggo Mortensen), Best Supporting Actor (Mahershala Ali) and Best Original Screenplay. Screening 1 - 14 February.

Can You Ever Forgive Me? (15), a biopic of the writer turned forger Lee Israel, is nominated for 3 Oscars; Best Actress (Melissa McCarthy), Best Supporting Actor (Richard E. Grant) & Best Adapted Screenplay. Screening 15 - 21 February.

If Beale Street Could Talk (15) is an adaption of the James Baldwin novel, directed by Barry Jenkins (Moonlight). It has received nominations for Best Supporting Actress (Regina King), Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Score. 

Documentary Free Solo (12A), charting climber James Honnold's attempt to climb the 3200 foot El Capitan rock without a rope, is a nominee for Best Feature Documentary. Returning to QUAD by popular demand 12 & 13 February. 

Nominated for 3 Oscars, including Best Original Music Score, Best Costume Design and Best Production Design, Mary Poppins Returns (PG) will be returning to QUAD for special February Half Term Screenings as part of our Cine Kids offer at just £3.50 per ticket for the family, 15 - 21 February,
