This semi-autobiographical tale follows Salvador Mallo (Antoinio Banderas), a film director in decline as he recalls a series of experiences and encounters from his past: his childhood growing up in the 60s in Valencia, his first love affair in 80s Madrid, the pain of heartbreak and his early discovery of cinema. Written and directed by Academy Award winner Almodovar (The Skin I Live In, Volver), this intense, evocative and beautifully produced film also stars frequent Almodovar muse Penelope Cruz.
