QUAD is excited to welcome Geoff Capes - former Olympic shot putter, World’s Strongest Man and Highland Games champion to talk about his life and the future work he wants to deliver to support young people in challenging circumstances to maximise their sporting passions.
Geoff was one of the most recognised sportsmen of his generation, and the most capped British male athlete of all time, this is a rare opportunity to hear Geoff Capes in conversation talking about his hugely successful sporting career.
He will be joined by Peter Shilton, former Derby County goalie and the most capped male England International footballer of all time, former Premiership footballer Rufus Brevett who grew up in Derby and went on to play for a number of clubs including QPR and Fulham, and Craig Ramage, local football commentator and former Derby County midfielder.
Hosted by Steve Jordan, BBC Radio Derby presenter, they will be talking about their most memorable sporting experiences and offering a unique insight into the challenges they overcame from a young age to get to the level they did.
The event is in aid of and organised by The Geoff Capes Foundation, a national charity to provide disadvantaged children and young people opportunities to participate in sport and other recreational and leisure time activities. Geoff will talk about the benefits of the charity and the guests take questions from the audience.
