'Liminal' relates to an in-between space and is one of many tools that a writer can use to shape the atmosphere of their story.

In this session, we’ll discuss liminality and liminal spaces in horror and speculative fiction. We’ll look at the differences between internal and external liminal spaces, explore examples in popular media, discuss how liminality touches on other subgenres, and write prompts to create our own liminal spaces.
