Part of COLLATERAL ECHOES Season
What remains when a story isn’t held in the official archive?
Join artist-educator Annis Harrison at QUAD, Derby on Saturday 10 October at 2pm for a hands-on and reflective workshop exploring how personal, family and community histories are preserved, passed on and remembered.
We’ll explore Annis’s journey in creating Memory of Joy, and consider:
• What do we choose to remember?
• How can photographs, objects, documents and stories carry memories across generations?
• What would you want future generations to know?
To book a free place, please email education@derbyquad.co.uk
What to bring:
Bring a photograph, object, document, image or other piece of material that holds a meaningful memory for you. It can be connected to a joyful memory, including one that emerged from a difficult experience.
There will also be an opportunity to share your memory through a short audio recording, but this is completely optional. You can also simply come as you are.
This workshop is part of the public programme for Collateral Echoes, exploring memory, mourning, representation and the lives and legacies of Black and immigrant Britons who have died following police contact.
