Although many formal Government restrictions have now been relaxed, you’ll continue to see many Covid safety measures around the building at QUAD. We know you may still have lots of questions so below are a few important areas that you may want to know about.
Arriving at QUAD
Complying with Test and Trace systems is no longer a legal requirement in our venue, however we will continue to make this system available to anyone who would like to check in when they arrive at QUAD. QR codes will be available to check in using the NHS Test & Trace app or, if you do not have a smart device, please check in with a member of our team who will take your contact details. Our Test and Trace procedure and paperwork is GDPR compliant.
The NHS Test and Trace app can be downloaded in advance via the following links:
For the safety of yourself and others QUAD strongly encourages all visitors to continue to wear a face covering whilst in our building (except for children under the age of 11 and people listed as exempt). Face coverings may be removed when seated in a socially distanced manner in the cinemas or café bar.
QUAD staff will continue to wear face coverings in all public areas when not working behind protective screens.
A face covering is defined as something which safely covers the nose and mouth. You can buy reusable or single-use face coverings. You may also use a scarf, bandana, religious garment or hand-made cloth covering but these must securely fit round the side of the face.
We are asking everyone to continue to observe the 1m+ social distancing rule from those who are not in your visiting party around all areas of the building. You will see markings on the floor to direct you around the building including a one way system through our corridors and stairways.
Socially distanced seating is still in operation in our Café bar and Cinemas.
Reserved seats will be allocated in the Cinema for all screenings and groups will be spaced with suitable gaps along each row. Our box office system will allocate seats on a best available basis and we are not currently taking individual seat requests. This is in order to maximise on the space we have available. If you require a particular seat for access needs, please contact our Box Office on 01332 290606 to make your booking.
We will be staggering the start times of our films whenever possible to minimise queuing. Please follow all signage and directions from staff whilst moving around the building.
We encourage groups to use the lift with members of their visiting party only. We ask that the lift is prioritised for visitors with access needs at all times.
We will continue to operate with increased cleaning routines around the building, focusing on frequently used touchpoints and disinfecting the Cinemas between every screening.
Hand sanitiser stations and hand washing facilities are available at multiple locations around the building and we encourage you to use these as you move through different areas.
All of our spaces are ventilated with fresh air and controlled by an automated air handling system. We have made adjustments to the controls and settings in the air handling system to ensure that more fresh air is frequently circulating in all spaces.
We are encouraging everyone to book cinema and event tickets in advance via our website or over the phone (01332 290606). This will ease queuing when entering and moving through the building.
You will be sent an e-ticket for all online and phone bookings and can then head straight up to the Cinema when you arrive. If you book on the phone but don’t have an email address, you can collect your tickets at Box Office when you arrive. All tickets have a barcode which enable contactless scanning with our cinema ushers.
Tables in the Café bar can be pre-booked by phoning 01332 290606 (subject to availability). Alternatively you can come in on the day and available tables will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Orders can be placed from your table on our mobile app or with a member of staff at the bar. To order using the app please download it to your mobile device from the Google Play Store or from the Apple App Store. If you would like assistance using the app, please ask a member of our team.
QUAD Café bar will close by 9pm, last orders for food will be at 8pm.

We will continue to deliver a range of online workshops for children, young people, families and adults. We will also be risk assessing how and when we will be able to deliver workshops in the building. Keep up to date with our opportunities to take part by:
· Signing up QUAD’s mailing list
· Signing up to our parents’ and young people’s newsletter
· Looking through the list of activities in our Get Creative section
Please use contactless payments wherever possible. Not only does this help us to reduce the spread of Covid-19, it also supports us as a charity. It costs us approximately £10,000 per year to securely handle and process cash through our organisation. At a time when every penny counts towards our survival, anything we can do to reduce this cost is essential. We have now installed an additional contactless payment point for our cinema snacks on the second floor.
New Car Parking Offers
We’ve been working with the Parking Services Team at Derby City Council to introduce some fantastic parking offers for QUAD visitors. We now have a ticket validator offering a flat rate of £2.50 for all day parking in either Assembly Rooms, Chapel Street or Bold Lane multi-storey car parks. Just bring your park card to Box Office for validation and we will apply the discount. Please note, this offer is only available for QUAD visitors.
We also have an offer for customers to pre-book on street parking when buying tickets online. The offer covers 4 hours for £2.70 to park on Derwent Street, Full Street, Queen Street, Exeter Place, Stuart Street or St Mary’s Gate. Follow the link on your confirmation email to complete your parking reservation.
