Let me be FRANK with you is an interactive artwork that investigates how artificial intelligence (A.I.) technology holds the potential to expand the genre of new media art and how our normal take on the distinction between human and technology is challenged in the wake of these advancements. The artwork explores the existential and ethical dilemmas humanised technology posed upon human beings, created using the newest advancements within machine intelligence technology.

FRANK is programmed using the newest advancements within machine intelligence technology which has been added an additional layer of fictional character. People can have a direct dialogue with FRANK, who will answer with a humanized voice.

FRANK is a contemporary oracle that gives personal guidance regarding existential dilemmas. You can ask him questions about your personal worries, anxiety, fears, hopes and dreams. FRANK’s advice can be sought by any person who needs wise and insightful counselling about concerns in their personal life. Listen carefully to FRANK’s prophesies – there is always a hidden rationality in what might seem as a highly ambiguous response. At moments, FRANK might be a gadfly irritating you with discomforting thoughts and ideas. However, you should not despair if FRANK’s answers leave you quite disoriented – it is for your own good! And don’t be afraid to approach FRANK. He will be expecting you!

Cecilie has recently been awarded the prestigious British TECHNE Award 2017 and the world’s pre-eminent digital art prize The Lumen Prize 2017 in the category Artificial Intelligence Award. She received both prizes for the artwork ARTificial Intelligence FRANK.
