Chris Bryant had a truly unconventional life before becoming a politician. Growing up in General Franco’s Spain, he later acted alongside some of the most talented names of the day, and subsequently cared for his brother and mother as she descended into addiction. He ran the family home from 16, became ordained at 24 and came out as gay shortly after. And that’s just the early years.
A Life and a Half tells a gripping story stuffed with moments of joy, hilarity, sorrow and abuse, against a landscape of late 20th-Century British politics, from Thatcher to the birth of New Labour.
