American footballer Flash Gordon (Sam Jones) is thrust into the intergalactic journey of a lifetime: joined with Dale Arden (Melody Anderson) and Dr. Hans Zarkov (Topol), the three earthbound space travellers will soon become the first humans to encounter alien life, and try to stop the tyrannical alien warlord Emperor Ming the Merciless (Max von Sydow) from destroying the Earth.
