Ori (from “Ori” meaning head) and “Já” (meaning now) is a documentary based on a research trip to Brazil inviting the audience to explore and recognise the daily influences of the African diaspora in Brazil through the perspective of the Yoruba people and their Orixas (orishas).
The team interviewed an array of people from different walks of life seeking for an understanding of what the orixas mean to them. This emotional and eye-opening documentary will share with the audience the direction the local people, dance practitioners, and community leaders are taking to embrace their Afro-Brazilian rituals to survive in life.
This screening will include a post-film Q&A with filmmakers Tatiana Alves Woolley, Fraser McGruer and Alice Cobbin.
Feel Good Film Club screenings start promptly at the advertised time, with no adverts or trailers.
