Well Dressed – Penda’s Fen + Spencer Banks Q&A

Book Tickets

Well Dressed: exploring the curious folklore of the Peak District and beyond through performance, art and film.

Alan Clarke (Scum, Rita, Sue and Bob Too) directs from David Rudkin’s screenplay for the BBC ‘Play for Today‘ programme. Set in the village of Pinvin in Worcestershire, the drama follows pastor’s son Stephen Franklin (Spencer Banks) as he has a series of surreal encounters with angels, demons and pagans. The journey he embarks upon forces Stephen to evaluate his place in the world and confront his home country’s ancient pagan history.

Written in the wake of The Wicker Man, David Rudkin’s TV play offers “a powerful portrait of adolescence and religious anguish in rural England” and has become a favourite for folklore and folk horror fans.

We are delighted to be joined for this screening by actor Spencer Banks for a post screening Q&A.
