An acrophobic detective (James Stewart) is hired by an old friend to trail his wife who is behaving suspiciously. After he successfully rescues her from a suicidal leap into the San Francisco bay, he finds himself becoming obsessed with the beautiful and troubled woman (Kim Novak).

Screening as part of QUAD Essentials, an eight-week season hosted by film historian Darrell Buxton. Each week will feature a classic film with an introduction and there will be a post-screening discussion.
