Oppenheimer and Barbie give QUAD, Derby its busiest month of Cinema
Barbie and Oppenheimer, two of the years most talked about films, have secured record-breaking combined audiences of eight thousand people and taken over £44,000 at QUAD Box office over the past month.
Both films launched in cinemas nationally on 21st July, and over 1,300 people visited QUAD to see either Barbie and Oppenheimer over the opening weekend, while others even took the ‘Barbiehiemer’ challenge to see both films back-to-back. Both films have continued to be screened at QUAD since the opening weekend.
Adam Marsh QUAD cinema programmer said “This has been our busiest four weeks in QUAD cinemas in the past four years. Barbie and Oppenheimer have really tapped into the national zeitgeist and brought our audience figures back to pre-pandemic levels. We are delighted to welcome returning customers as well as many new audiences – especially those aged 16 to 25 who have taken advantage of our £5 tickets for young people.”
QUAD has also had busy audiences during the six weeks holidays for Cine Kids family friendly film-programme which included Elemental, Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken and Transformers Rise Of The Beasts alongside a season of Disney classics. Cine Kids is QUAD’s family-friendly film club with all tickets just £5.
Barbie is directed by Oscar-nominated writer/director Greta Gerwig and stars Oscar-nominees Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken. Oppenheimer is an epic thriller directed by Christopher Nolan, with a cast including Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey, Jr., Florence Pugh, Benny Safdie, Rami Malek and Kenneth Branagh.
Oppenheimer (15) continues at QUAD until Thursday 24th August. Barbie (12A) continues until Thursday 31st August. Current and forthcoming Cine Kids screenings include Mavka The Forest Song (PG), Spiderman Across The Spiderverse (PG) and Jurassic Park (PG).
