Coming to QUAD Gallery from 22 July

QUAD in Derby has announced its new summer exhibition, called Create My World: Nature, taking place over the six weeks holidays, from 22nd July until 2nd September.

Create My World: Nature will be an interactive exhibition experience for all ages, celebrating nature and creativity. Over six weeks holiday a virtual world will be created, populated with living creatures and plant life made from artworks generated by visitors through specially designed activity sheets and workshops. Participants of all ages can create their own beetles, bugs, butterflies and more as part of a QUAD digital ecosystem The designs will then be scanned and uploaded into a virtual 3D world and brought to life in projections across QUAD’s main Gallery. Using game controllers, visitors can then explore the world that has been created in a digital world of wonder!

In Gallery 2, Play & Display is a creative workshop room and extra exhibition space where visitors can grow and expand on ideas inspired by Create My World: Nature and to make more artworks that can be added into the virtual world. Play & Display invites visitors to reflect and respond to themes of nature and the environment, with new topics updated over the course of the exhibition to celebrate your creativity and love for nature.

The exhibitions will be accompanied by a programme of family activities throughout the summer holidays. These will include creative workshops from 3D animation and filmmaking to sculpting origami, craft and virtual activities, family-friendly Cine Kids film screenings, (all tickets £5) including Elemental, Mavka The Forest Song, Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken, Spiderman Across The Spiderverse and Transformers Rise Of The Beasts, plus special offers in the QUAD Café.
