Edge lit returns for 10th installment

QUAD in Derby welcomes the return of Edge Lit this September, which celebrates the best in Horror, Thriller, Fantasy and Science-Fiction literature.

The tenth edition of Edge Lit takes place at QUAD on Saturday 7th September from 10am until 5pm, presenting an array of genre fiction talent from around the UK and abroad. Twenty-four authors will be taking part in events, they include:

Charlie Higson, creator and one of the stars of comedy series The Fast Show and author of the bestselling series Young Bond and The Enemy.

Robin Ince, comedian, author, broadcaster and a populariser of scientific ideas, including the popular BBC Radio 4 series The Infinite Monkey Cage with Professor Brian Cox.

Isy Suttie, comedian, actress, and writer whose work regularly appears in The Guardian, The Observer and on BBC Radio 4, with TV acting credits include Peep Show and Shameless.

Stuart Neville, whose debut novel is The Twelve (AKA The Ghosts of Belfast) and has since published ten more critically acclaimed books, also under the pen name Haylen Beck.

Internationally bestselling author and screenwriter Sarah Pinborough, published in over 30 territories and whose books include INSOMNIA and Behind Her Eyes, both adapted for screen.

Mark Morris, author and editor of novels, novellas, short story collections and anthologies; his script work includes audio dramas for Doctor Who; plus audio adaptations of the classic 1971 horror movie Blood on Satan’s Claw and M.R. James ghost story A View From a Hill.

BAFTA and two-time British Fantasy Award winner Stephen Volk, who created the BBC TV’s notorious “Halloween hoax” Ghostwatch and the paranormal drama series Afterlife. His many other screenplays include The Awakening and Gothic.

Author Robert Shearman whose story collection have won the World Fantasy Award, the Shirley Jackson Award, the Edge Hill Reader’s Prize and British Fantasy Awards, and the Sunday Times Playwriting and the World Drama Trust Awards for stage work. But he’s probably best known as the writer who brought back the Daleks to TV in the 2005 revival of Doctor Who!

Alison Moore‘s short stories have been included in Best British Short Stories and Best British Horror and broadcast on BBC Radio. Her novel, The Lighthouse, was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize.

Additional guest authors who will also be appearing as part of events at Edge Lit 10 include: Tim Major, Johnny Mains, Conrad Williams, Zen Cho, Sean Hogan, Andrew David Barker, Tom Toner, Lesley Kelly, Dana Grigorcea, Charlotte Bond, Chris Farnell, Adam Simcox, Sarah Brooks, Simon Bestwick and Teika Marija Smits.

The all-day event includes panel discussions, interviews and readings, workshops and book sales offering books from independent press and authors. Tickets are £35 and allow access to all events. Each ticket is subject to a £1 transaction fee at checkout which goes directly towards the running of QUAD.
