QUAD in Derby has launched a new fundraising campaign ahead of its 15th Birthday.
QUAD is Derby’s Cultural hub, aiming to make art, film and digital media accessible to all, delivering a contemporary programme and inspirational creative opportunities and helping transform the lives of people of all ages and all communities. Profits from commercial activities like the QUAD Café bar enable the venue to work within educational settings and non-traditional audiences.
QUAD celebrates its 15th Birthday on 26th September 2023 and is extremely proud of the hundreds of thousands of lives positively impacted through its work. After these 15 years, however, the QUAD building is suffering from wear and tear, essential equipment needs to be upgraded and energy costs have greatly increased. QUAD is looking for funding to carry out crucial refurbishment on the building, including Cinema projectors, Gallery refurbishment, technical equipment, Café Bar renovations, Plumbing, lighting and repair work, as well as General cosmetic refurbishment, Improvements for environmental sustainability and help to combat higher overheads.
QUAD has launched the new GoFundMe page to kickstart this future work and to continue providing creative arts, cinema and community activities for Derby and beyond.
Mark Gregory, QUAD Chair adds “We are working hard behind the scenes to deliver the high quality of experience from QUAD and to enable our work with non-traditional audiences. In the meantime we are reaching out for help to ease us through this period of challenge and change. Please help us to keep our doors open to everyone.”
QUAD Management added “This current and unprecedented situation is part of a bigger picture, regionally & nationally, and mainly because a large chunk of customers have simply not returned since Covid, as well as rising costs which have impacted us all. Most cultural organisations are operating as not for profit charities; profit margins for arts organisations are narrow at the best of times. Meanwhile for visitors, the cost of living crisis has not abated. QUAD offers a programme of free exhibitions and activities and reasonably priced Cine Kids cinema tickets and Kids meals in the Café bar as part of our summer offer. We know money can be an issue and income shouldn’t be a barrier to taking part in culture.”
