HUUB Launch Night – Thunderbirds Are Go!

QUAD and HUUB have combined forces to bring an evening of sci-fi entertainment to Derby. The two organisations – neighbours in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter – are working together on a special fundraising evening celebrating the launch of HUUB’s Thunderbirds clothing collaboration on Wednesday 29 June at 6.30pm. It’s all for a good cause, with all ticket revenue going to support the QUAD charity and Derby County Community Trust.

QUAD will host a screening of an award-winning film celebrating the life of puppetry pioneer, science fiction master and legendary producer Gerry Anderson. As well as Thunderbirds, Anderson created some of the world’s most beloved children’s television series including Stingray, Captain Scarlet, Space: 1999, Terrahawks, Space Precinct and many more, which continue to enthral successive generations decades after their first transmission.

Gerry Anderson: A Life Uncharted (PG) uses previously unpublished interviews combined with deep fake technology to allow Gerry to tell his story from a poverty-stricken childhood, through a lifetime of personal struggles to becoming a national treasure with a career that spanned 60 years.

Gerry Anderson: A Life Uncharted will be introduced at QUAD by Director Benjamin Field with special guest Jamie Anderson (Gerry Anderson’s son, and Producer of the film) providing an insight into his father’s life. The evening will be preceded by a VIP reception in QUAD’s Gallery, with complimentary canapés and wine, and ending with a private bar, plus giveaways of special prizes and a raffle.

Producer Jamie Anderson added, “The process of making this documentary has been an amazing journey for me. I’ve got to know Dad in ways that I never managed during his lifetime. The things I’ve learned make his achievements all the more incredible, but also make so many of the characters and shows he created even more meaningful. It’s a difficult story, but one that needs to be told. I look forward to meeting audience members and fans of my father’s work at Derby QUAD, while raising money for two fantastic charities on the evening.”

Income raised from this special one-off event will be shared between the charities Derby County Community Trust and QUAD, in what promises to be a F.A.B. evening not to be missed.

HUUB Launch Night: Thunderbirds Are Go! takes place in QUAD on Wednesday 29 June from 6:30pm.
