Set at the edge of the Peak District, The Spoiled Heart is the latest from Sunjeev, the Booker-shortlisted author of The Year of the Runaways.

Nayan Olak keeps seeing Helen Fletcher around town and on his daily run out to the Peaks. She’s returned with her teenaged son, Brandon, and there’s some mystery about what happened to her. Nayan is powerfully drawn to her, though he doesn’t quite know why.

He hasn’t risked love since he lost his young family in a terrible accident twenty years before. He’s now running for the union leadership at work, which is taking all his energy and commitment. But as he grows closer to Helen, and to the possibility that their pasts may have been connected, much more than winning is suddenly threatened.
